Weather Observation Strip Response Creator

The weather observation strip is an ideal means to report severe weather conditions during SKYWARN activations when standard modes of communication are not available to the individual spotter. It can be easily transmitted via WINLINK by licensed amateur radio operators or by email for all other spotters.

Amateur Radio Operators using WINLINK

1. Once downloaded, in Windows, click Extract All and browse to: C:\RMS-Express\Global Folders\Templates, then click Select Folder. The install is complete.
2. Open WINLINK, click New Message, then Select Template, Global Templates, and double‑click Request for information .... This opens the Response Creator in your browser.
3. Click Insert a Standard Information Strip.
4. Click Box next to GYX‑CAR SKYWARN.
5. Click Parse Strip.
6. Fill in the requested information based on the on‑screen instructions.
7. Click Create Response Strip.
8. Click Submit Strip to Winlink Message.
9. Send your WINLINK message to: skywarn@wx1gyx.net.

All Other Spotters

1. Click Non-ARO button above.
2. Click Parse Strip
3. Fill in the requested information based on the on‑screen instructions.
4. Click Create Response Strip.
5. Cut and paste the created response strip into an email message.
6. Send your message to: skywarn@wx1gyx.net.
